Privacy Policy

Last updated October 5, 2026

This policy explains what information My Aisle Buddy ("we", "us") collects when you use myaislebuddy.com, how we use it, and the choices you have.

The short version

Information we collect

Searches

When you search, we receive the words you searched for and the ZIP code you entered. We use them to find nearby stores and their prices. We also keep a log of searches (the words, the ZIP code and the time) to understand which items and areas people care about, so we can add the right stores. This log isn't tied to your name or account.

Your general area, before you set a ZIP code

Until you set a ZIP code, we show prices near an estimate of your area. The estimate comes from your IP address, using location information our hosting provider supplies with each visit, and we turn it into the nearest ZIP code. We tell you on the page when prices are based on this estimate, and we don't store it. If you choose “Use my current location”, your browser asks your permission and then sends us your approximate location once, rounded to about half a mile, so we can find the nearest ZIP code. We don't store that either.

Your ZIP code and grocery list, saved in your browser

So you don't have to retype them, your ZIP code and your grocery list are saved in your own browser's storage on your device, not on our servers. You can remove them at any time by clearing your list or this site's data in your browser settings. To show current prices on your list, your browser asks us for the latest prices of the products on it; that request includes the products and stores, not who you are.

Sharing your list

When you print, share, email, text or copy your list, it goes through your own device's apps, and we don't see who you send it to. A shared list includes a link that holds the list itself after the "#" sign, a part of a link that browsers don't send to our servers.

Technical information

Like nearly every website, our hosting and infrastructure providers automatically receive technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type and the pages you request. This is used to run the site, keep it secure, fix problems and prevent abuse, and it is kept only for a limited time.

Analytics

We may use analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use the site, for example which pages are visited and how people found us. These tools may use cookies or similar technologies and collect information like approximate location (city level), device and browser details. You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message, and we use it to reply.

How we use information

How information is shared

We don't sell your personal information. We share information only in these cases:

Product images and links to stores

Product photos on our pages are loaded from the stores' own websites, so those stores can see that your browser requested an image, as with any image on the web. When you click through to a store's website, that store's own privacy policy applies.

Some links to delivery services, such as Shipt or Instacart, are paid links, marked “Paid link”. When you click one, you leave our site, and that service and the affiliate network that tracks the link may set their own cookies so they can tell us if an order came from our link. We don't send them anything about you.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use your browser's storage to remember your ZIP code and your grocery list. Analytics tools, if used, may set their own cookies. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and site data; the site will still work, but you may need to enter your ZIP code again and your list will be cleared.

How long we keep information

We keep search logs for as long as they're useful for understanding demand and improving the site, in a form that isn't tied to you. Technical logs are kept for a limited time. Emails are kept for as long as needed to answer them and keep a record of our conversation.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live (for example, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and other states with privacy laws), you may have the right to ask what personal information we have about you, to ask us to delete or correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We don't sell personal information. To make a request, email us at hello@myaislebuddy.com. We won't treat you differently for exercising your rights.

Children's privacy

My Aisle Buddy is meant for adults doing their grocery shopping. It isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we'll delete it.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect the information we handle, including limiting who can access our database. No method of storing or sending information online is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site grows, for example if we add advertising. When we do, we'll change the "last updated" date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we'll make it clear on the site.
